Coach Ozdemir (a.k.a Coach Oz) was born and raised in the North Richland Hills area of Ft. Worth, Texas. He attended Birdville High School and graduated class of 2016. During his time at Birdville High School he served as Head Varsity Manager under the coaching core of Head Coach Jeff Fitch and Associate Head Coach Anthony Holman. Coach Oz was given many roles and responsibilities during this time including organizing practices/workouts, statistics, film coordinating, player development and managing player relationships. The hard work and dedication put forth earned Coach Oz a finalist spot for the TABC Manager of the Year award in 2015.
After High School, Coach Oz furthered his studies his freshman year at TCC Northeast. Although he was not on a official team roster, Coach Oz continued being a student of the game and getting as much experience as possible through volunteer work for his alma mater. Prior to his sophomore year in college Coach Oz was given the opportunity to attend Jacksonville Junior College in Jacksonville, Texas where he served as a manager under Head Coach Aaron Smith. The Jacksonville Jaguars were able to achieve much success in the 2017-2018 season, winning the Region XIV Championship. Following his graduation from Jacksonville, Coach Oz was sidelined due to a family member falling ill. He spent the next two years helping his family member rehab which delayed his pursuit of a bachelors degree. Since the start of 2021 he has been back on track with a projected graduation date of December 2022 with a Bachelors in Information Technology - Software Development.
Currently, Coach Oz works full-time but has also found time to serve as a volunteer Assistant Coach for his alma matter Birdville High School. His duties there currently include statistics and player development.
The overall goal for Coach Oz is to obtain as much coaching experience as he can while finishing school and taking care of his family. Also there are many morals and ethics Coach Oz wishes to instill in all of the players he coaches but the main ones he will emphasis are : Working as hard as you can, playing basketball the right way and most of all having fun playing the game we have all come to know & love. This will be Coach Oz first year with Texas Express and he looks to make the most out of the opportunity he has been given.
