Matthew Scott graduated from Chapel Hill High School located in Chapel Hill, Texas, where he played basketball under Former Head Coach Alan Johnston in 2005. He then went on to play at Trinity Valley Community College under Hall of Fame Coach Leon “Red” Spencer and went on to transfer to Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri.
Scott enjoyed a successful collegiate playing career at Central Methodist University and helped the Eagles achieve their first 13-0 start in school history, a Heart of America Conference Championship and an NAIA Sweet 16 appearance in 2009. Scott, who was a member of two NAIA national tournament squads, was named the team's most improved player in 2009 for Missouri Sports Hall of Fame coach Jeff Sherman.
Scott graduated with a bachelor of science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Physical Education from Central Methodist in 2010.
Scott then accepted a Graduate Assistant position at Midwestern State University working under Head Coach Nelson Haggerty. Scott was in charge of skill development and assisted with individual instruction of the MSU forwards, game day operations, and was heavily involved in recruiting.
Scott played a key role in helping MSU to three Lone Star Conference championships advancing to the NCAA Division II postseason tournament in each of his seasons on campus.
Scott graduated from Midwestern State University with a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration in 2016.
Scott then accepted a Player Development internship with the Dallas Mavericks working directly under God Shammgod (Head Player Development Coach) and Mike Procopio. Scott worked with Andrew Bogut, Dwight Powell, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Jameel Warney just to name a few.
Scott has also worked camps all over the country: San Antonio Spurs (Khawhi Leonards skills camp, Texas A&M University, University of Missouri, University of Texas, University of Kansas, Baylor University, John Lucas Enterprise, and Five Star Basketball
Scott currently resides in Dallas Texas with his wife Janaela. He works as a Skill development coach for John Lucas Enterprise and also works as a Compliance Assistant for the Lone Star Conference.
