Coach Johnson is currently the Head Basketball Coach at Ovilla Christian (class 2A) in Ovilla, Texas. He has been coaching basketball for 15 years and has been a head coach for 12 years. He has coaching stops at the UIL, TAPPS, and the collegiate level as a head coach at the following schools: Prairie Lea ISD, Wichita Christian, Oak Hills Christian College, Heath-Fulton, Fellowship Academy, Duncanville ChristWay, and Glenview Christian. Coach Johnson coached six seasons for Texas Express from 2008-2013 and he is excited about the opportunity to return to our program.
Mr. Johnson supervises the secondary faculty and athletic coaches in his roles. His primary objective is for every OCS student to strive for excellence in every aspect of his or her life. He desires for each student to have opportunities to grow spiritually, intellectually, athletically, artistically, and socially. Expectations of excellence in all five facets give students the best and broadest foundation while allowing them to excel in the strengths which God has uniquely blessed them.
Mr. Johnson earned a Master of Education from Jones International University. He received his Bachelor of Science from Southwest Assemblies of God University (SAGU) while participating in college athletics. His 14 years in education have included positions such as history teacher, Athletic Director and coach, Dean of Students, Admissions Counselor, Elementary Principal, and Assistant Principal.
Mr. Johnson considers Philippians 4:13, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength,” a verse to live by every day. His wonderful wife Kallye is a math teacher and head volleyball coach at Ovilla Christian, and they have three beautiful children: Julius (Texas Express player), Kenlee, and Korbyn and they reside in Waxahachie, Texas.
