Coach Woody is a Homeschool graduate and played his high school days with the PT Warriors. He scored 2,731 points in his high school career, with 732 coming from the free throw line. He earned All District and All Region awards in 3 of his varsity years. Woody played a huge roll in growing the PT organization for both the girl’s and boy’s programs through his hard work and strong Christian character. He played with Texas Express under Coach Yates for 4 years. Coach Yates instilled not only basketball in Woody, but what it takes to be a leader and to better understand the game from a coach’s perspective. Coach Yates has had a big impact on Woody’s life both on and off the court.
Coach Woody is currently a junior at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX. He is studying Information Systems with a minor in Honors. Woody is very involved at HSU in various ways such as Honors Committee, Women’s Basketball, and Intramurals. Woody is also a small business owner that keeps him busy many months out of the year.
Coach Woody feels that learning the fundamentals of the game at a young age and building on those each year are the keys to being successful in basketball. He also believes that to be as successful as a player, they must learn to play with their whole heart. He will encourage fundamentals and passion for the game to each player in order to help the athlete achieve their personal and team goals.
Coach Woody enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing all sports, school, and working.
