Deon Jr. started his prep high school basketball career at Dallas Skyline High School, where he was coached by former Washington State head coach Paul Graham. He earned first team All-District honors as a sophomore for a team that won the district championship.
After transferring to Lancaster High School, he led his team as a point guard to back-to-back state 5A titles and a 69-6 record. He accolades include two-time All-State and two-time All-District as well as a TABC All star selection
After High School, Deon received a basketball scholarship to the University of Texas El Paso as a freshman. His additional college playing experience includes two years at South Plains Junior College and Texas A&M Commerce.
Last year he worked as an assistant coach with Texas Express under Vic Cochran. He plans to finalize his undergraduate degree this spring and transition into education and coaching this fall. He is very excited to have the opportunity to work as a head coach with Texas Express while pursuing his passion in teaching and coaching.
